Insgesamt sechs Pulte unterschiedlicher H\u00f6he, gefertigt aus wei\u00dfem und schwarzem Granit entpuppen sich beim genaueren Betrachten als Rednerpulte, die jedoch noch eine weitere Funktion erf\u00fcllen: Auf Knopfdruck fungieren sie ebenfalls als erfrischende Trinkbrunnen.<\/p>\n<p>Merkw\u00fcrdig aber ist die unterschiedliche Gr\u00f6\u00dfe und Gestaltung dieser &#8220;Speaker\u2019s Corners&#8221;: Es gibt ein Rednerpult f\u00fcr Kinder, es gibt eines f\u00fcr Rollstuhlfahrer, an einem Pult k\u00f6nnen zwei Menschen miteinander reden, an einem anderen gegeneinander argumentieren, an einem weiteren aber auch aneinander vorbeireden. Die schwarzen und wei\u00dfen Granitteile dieser Rednerpulte aber verdeutlichen die These und Antithese als urs\u00e4chliche Mittel menschlicher Kommunikation, die Doppelfunktion als Pult und Brunnen dar\u00fcber hinaus das Sprechen und Trinken als Sinnbilder geistiger und k\u00f6rperlicher Nahrung und somit als urs\u00e4chliche Faktoren menschlicher Existenz.<\/p>\n<p>In der erschreckend schnell fortschreitenden Anonymisierung der Informationsgesellschaft des fr\u00fchen 21. Jahrhunderts mit E-Mail und Internet, mit Home-Shopping und Mobiltelefon ist dem D\u00fcsseldorfer K\u00fcnstler Harald Klingelh\u00f6ller mit dieser sozialen Skulptur ein ebenso schl\u00fcssiger wie provokativer Appell gelungen: Alle Menschen k\u00f6nnen sich Geh\u00f6r verschaffen, wenn sie es wollen, eine deutliche Aufforderung also zur Kommunikation, zum Miteinander, zum Dialog, zur Auseinandersetzung des Individuums mit der Gesellschaft oder, wie es der K\u00fcnstler selbst formuliert hat: &#8220;Der Anwesenheit der menschlichen Stimme einen Ort geben!&#8221;<\/p>\n","werk_txt_long_en":"<p>Reading a book on a park bench, taking a quiet stroll, leisurely enjoying the sun\u2014Petuelpark offers an array of opportunities for urban relaxation. It also symbolizes the human desire to briefly escape the vortex of hectic life in the big city for just a few moments. At first glance, then, Harlad Klingelh\u00f6ller\u2019s Rhetorical Woods is all the more surprising. Amid a cluster of trees symmetrically laid out not far from the Feuchtwanger School, a group of abstract sculptures invites visitors to occupy and play in the area. Upon closer inspection, these six stands of different heights, made of white and black granite, turn out to be lecterns that fulfill yet another function: push a button and they are also refreshing drinking fountains.<\/p>\n<p>The different sizes and designs in this \u201cSpeaker\u2019s Corner\u201d are odd, however. There is a lectern for children and one for wheelchair users; two people can talk to each other at another one or argue at a second or simply talk past each other at a third. The black and white granite of these lecterns, however, illustrates the idea that the thesis and antithesis are the seminal means of human communication; moreover, the artwork\u2019s double function as both lectern and fountain also suggests that talking and drinking are symbols of mental and physical nourishment and thus original factors of human existence.<\/p>\n<p>As the twenty-first-century information society continues its frighteningly rapid process of anonymization, with e-mail and Internet, home shopping and mobile phones, the Dusseldorf artist Harald Klingelh\u00f6ller\u2019s \u201csocial sculpture\u201d succeeds in making an appeal that is as coherent as it is provocative: every man and woman can make themselves heard if they want to.
