Oktober 2003 wird der U-Bahnhof Georg-Brauchle-Ring mit der raumgreifenden Wandarbeit Die gro\u00dfe Reise von Franz Ackermann er\u00f6ffnet. Der Bahnhof steht am Anfang einer neuen Generation von U-Bahnh\u00f6fen, bei denen aktuelle Kunst eine pr\u00e4gende Rolle spielen wird. Im Rahmen von QUIVID, dem Kunst am Bau Programm der Stadt M\u00fcnchen, wurden ab dem Jahre 2000 von der Hauptabteilung U-Bahnbau des Baureferates unter Beteiligung der M\u00fcnchner Kunstkommission drei internationale Kunstwettbewerbe f\u00fcr die Bahnh\u00f6fe Georg-Brauchle-Ring (Realisierung: Franz Ackermann), Olympia-Einkaufszentrum (Realisierung: Olaf Metzel) und Olympiapark Nord (Realisierung: Rudolf Herz) ausgelobt. F\u00fcr den U-Bahnhof Fr\u00f6ttmaning, der die Allianz Arena erschlie\u00dfen wird, erging ein Direktauftrag an den Wiener K\u00fcnstler Peter Kogler zur Kooperation mit den Architekten Bohn+Bohn.<\/p>\n<p>Der U-Bahnhof Georg-Brauchle-Ring bindet den Stadtteil Moosach durch die Verl\u00e4ngerung der U-Bahn-Linie 1 an das U-Bahnnetz an. Eine Verl\u00e4ngerung bis zum Olympia-Einkaufszentrum erfolgt im Jahre 2004. Die Lage und Entwicklung des U-Bahnhofes Georg-Brauchle-Ring ist bedingt durch das im Bau befindliche Hochhausprojekt Uptown Munich des Architekten Christoph Ingenhoven, sowie den Bau und die Planung weiterer gro\u00dfer B\u00fcro- und Verwaltungsbauten in diesem Umfeld. Weiterhin besteht eine r\u00e4umliche N\u00e4he und Sichtbeziehung zum Olympiapark. Daher ist an dieser Station eine hohe Nutzerfrequenz und internationales Publikum zu erwarten.<\/p>\n<p>Der K\u00fcnstler Franz Ackermann, der an der M\u00fcnchner und Hamburger Kunst-akademie studierte, ist heute selber Professor am ZKM in Karlsruhe und in vielen internationalen Ausstellungen vertreten. Bekannt wurde er durch seine expansiven Bildwelten und raumgreifenden Installationen. Inhaltlich befasst er sich h\u00e4ufig mit den Sehns\u00fcchten und W\u00fcnschen der Menschen und erforscht, wie diese durch Werbung und Kulturindustrie beeinflusst und gepr\u00e4gt werden. Insbesondere den Tourismus, eine der gewinntr\u00e4chtigsten Einnahmequellen der westlichen Welt, stellt er in seinen Arbeiten an den Pranger.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Tourists Are Money&#8221; sang die britische Punk-Band Sex Pistols 1977 in ihrem Song &#8220;God Save the Queen&#8221;. Zwanzig Jahre sp\u00e4ter griff Franz Ackermann den Satz anl\u00e4sslich der Ausstellung &#8220;Urban Living&#8221; auf und schrieb ihn mit schwarzen Lettern an die Wand des Ausstellungsraums.
